January can be an overwhelming month! New goals at work and personal resolutions motivate us to act above & beyond our usual daily tasks. All the hard work and striving to be our best selves end up stressing us out. It is likely that many people feel quite spent now that the first month of the new year is over. How do we cope with this feeling of stress and exhaustion? Push even harder!
That’s right! It’s important to continue doing whatever it is that is making you feel miserable, especially since it’s the thought of giving up on yourself causing the most pain. I’ve found this is true with exercising. It takes time and sweat to see results in the mirror. If we can move past that feeling of “I can’t do this anymore,” we increase our chance of success significantly!!!
Motivation is a temporary emotion, so we have to constantly push when it begins to die out. Only then we start forming actual HABITS. Habits are like a system that eventually becomes a part of us, and defines our lifestyle. Pushing past the physical pain and mental negativity helps us shape the lifestyle we have always imagined for ourselves! So don’t give up, especially when you feel like it the most. Instead of saying “I can’t do this anymore, it’s making me unhappy,” say “I can’t do this anymore, but I’m going to anyway.” Never underestimate the power of words and self talk. It’s what can carry you past the hardest obstacles…
Continue doing what you do, believe you can be the best version of yourself, and before you know it you will be!
