How To Tackle Life-Changing Decision Making

Decision making is an essential part of being your own person. If you are unable to decide on a matter, someone else will do it for you. Nobody wants that. So here is a brief piece of advice on how to make decisions effectively all the while preventing excessive stress.

• Collect opinions

The more the better! While you want to avoid others making decisions for you, listening to them can help you take into consideration new facts and points of view that you didn’t have before. It’s a time-saving process formation that is needed for the actual decision making.

Do your own research

Complete a fact-finding that will help you understand your options the best you can, so that you can make an informed decision. Remember that no one can predict the future, unless you are a first class psychic, but you CAN develop a pretty close idea of what each course of action can lead to.

Create a Pros and Cons list

This is the actual process for deciding on something important. Think like a lawyer, think like a business, gather your thoughts and put together a detailed list of the good and the bad of each presented option. If it helps, try to organize the factors in order of importance to you, or number their order of importance after having listed them. It is hard to articulate all the things that we have going on in our minds all the once, so it is essential we write them down. That way we won’t leave an important fact out of the picture! By the time you are done writing your lists and rating their value, you will form a very clear decision to stick with!

It is that easy. Sometimes we think an idea is good until we put it in perspective. Decision making doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful, it just has to be done right. So next time you are faced with a life-changing decision, remember to follow the three bullet points. Take your life into your own hands and trust that everything will work out in your favor at the end!
